Village

Cuxton

Cuxton is a popular place, with a community of sociable people who appreciate where they live. It has many voluntary groups, including the Cuxton Walking Group, Library Garden Group and Cuxton Countryside Group, which care for people, village and surrounding landscape.

Originally a small medieval settlement, Cuxton expanded in the 19th century and again for housing after the Second World War. Today there are approximately 1105 properties in the village and a population of approximately 2700.

Cuxton today

The village has a vibrant community life, being small enough for many people to know each other. Housing is varied and amenities include shops, two takeaways, two hairdressers, a pub, a social club, a library, a doctors’ surgery, two churches and a thriving nursery and school. Annual community events such as the Cuxton Big Lunch and the Wheel of Cuxton fireworks bring everyone together and Father Christmas always comes to Cuxton on his sleigh in the run up to the festive season.

A gateway to miles of stunning landscape

Cuxton has one foot in town and one in country and forms a gateway to miles of stunning landscape which people enjoy by walking, running, riding and cycling. The North Downs Way long distance footpath and the Pilgrims’ Way pass through Cuxton, showing that village and countryside are highly valued by residents and visitors alike.
